“C’mon (y/n)! Can you believe how popular these guys are, I mean their debut was only a few months ago.” You lifted your head from your desk when one of the girls you were friendliest with squealed.
“What?” You were only slightly groggy from your nap during the lesson, and heck you weren’t really one to disturb at times like that. Especially not by annoying girls who spoke fast in a high-pitched voice. “These guys!” She brandished a magazine.
Rubbing the sleep from your eyes, you scanned the article, the photo on one side really glossy. “What about them?” You asked bluntly, not understanding her hysteria. “Look at them!”
The one that jumped out of the picture immediately was the tall redhead.
Two identical boys stood by his sides. A blond in the middle was flanked by another brunette and the shortest boy. “I fail to see the point? What am I supposed to see about them?”
She sighed, rolling her eyes. “They’re only like some of the hottest guys ever!” Rubbing your neck, you looked at her, sensing that she wanted to talk about them. “Go on then, talk me through them.”
She cheered, snuggling next to you on your chair. “Which one do you want to know about first?”
You pointed at the redhead. “He looks interesting. Who’s he?”
She giggled. “Oh, he’s Allistor. The oldest brother.”
“Brother?” Your head tilted, you glanced at her quizzically. “Yeah, they’re brothers. The Kirkland brothers. You seriously haven’t heard of them?”
You thought for a moment. That name did seem familiar to you, maybe your uncle had mentioned it to you before. “Whatever.”
“So yeah, he’s like the rougher one of the group. He even smokes.” You wrinkled your nose. If it was one thing you hated most was smokers. “He dances incredibly though! And like he’s only been doing it for a few years, which is amazing!”
“So who are these two?” You pointed at the twins. Smiling, she pressed the tips of her fingers together. “I think you can tell they’re twins, right? They’re the troublemakers of the group.” You shook your head. Bloody typical....
“They’re called Iain and Flynn, cool names huh? Ah also, they’re the rappers.”
You pointed at the other tall brunette. “And this guy?”
“He’s called Dylan. He’s really smart! It’s like he’s kind of the big brother figure, even though he’s second eldest. He’s the one who writes most of the songs.”
You snorted slightly. “And this boy, I mean seriously how old is that kid?” She nodded. “Yeah, he’s the youngest and you know the ‘cutesy’ member. His name’s Peter.” Your finger settled on the last remaining figure. “And him?”
Your friend nudged you. “Saving the best for last eh? He’s the leader of the band of course! His name is Arthur! He’s the gentleman type, unfortunately though he gets picked on by his brothers a lot, but it’s still funny!”
The tough one, the mischievous twins, the ‘big brother’, the cutesy one and the gentleman. Man, the idol industry sure wasn’t pulling out anything new.... you thought to yourself as you walked back home. At least they had nice faces...
The distance to your house was a fair way, but after plugging yourself into your music player you actually rather enjoyed the walk back. It gave you time to think and it also gave you a purpose. You’d never enjoyed walks when you’d just aimlessly trail in circles, you needed an objective, it kept you happy.
A smile crept up to your lips when you neared your home, though it wasn’t really a normal house. The place you called home was an old dorm, even if all the other rooms weren’t in use. Your uncle and aunty owned the place and allowed you to stay at minimal rent.
Also as their house was just a block away, your parents deemed it safe enough for you to go and live in when you asked to move away from the- from the memories. You grimaced as your thoughts turned to that part of your mind, but you quickly banished them back into your memory by playing a slightly more upbeat song.
“I’m home!” You called, though you knew no one was going to answer your call. Which is why when someone actually called back to you, you blinked in surprise. Noticing an abnormal amount of shoes in the hallway, accompanied with a huge pile of bags you frowned.
After climbing around the pile with difficulty, you made your way down the hallway to the kitchen. The door was open and you gingery pushed it open. “(y/n)! You’re back!” Instantly you were hugged by your uncle, making you almost fall backwards if his arms weren’t wrapped around you.
“It’s been so long!” He said, patting your head like you were still a kid. “We only saw each other this morning.” You replied, though your uncle’s happy-go-lucky attitude made you smile. “What’s the occasion?” You asked, cocking your head in the direction of the bags.
“Oh right! I told you before right? I was assigned a newbie team of boys who’ve only recently made their debut and-“
“Who are you calling boys? We’re or at least I’m older than that, thank you very much.” You raised your eyebrow as a tall redhead leaned against the opposite wall from you. Why was there a guy, scratch that, why were there several guys in your house?
Also, they seemed eerily familiar. “Sorry Al, slip of the tongue~” your uncle said, then frowned at him. “Hey how dare you speak to your manager like that! Anyways, (y/n) as I was trying to say before these lads’ll be housing with you. I thought you’d be okay with it.”
You sighed, pinching the bridge of your nose. “Tea. Now.” You ordered as you sat down at the table, wondering how this situation was thrown on you. Especially with the anniversary of that day coming along you could do without something like this.
“I already made some.” Without another word your uncle supplied you with a cup of steaming tea. As you sipped at the hot liquid, you registered something or rather someone staring at you. “What?” You snapped, glaring at the boy.
He smiled sweetly at you. “Your mug is cute.” You looked at it. It was your favourite, being (f/c) with white polka dots. “Thanks I guess....”
“So boss~” you heard. Looking up you saw two identical boys in the same pose. “How are we going to decide who sleeps where?” They said at the same time.
“I am not rooming with that stick-in the mud.” The redhead growled, folding his arms. “Geez, we can always decide by rock-paper-scissors or something.” The two guys sitting at the table with you sighed in synchronisation. “You know Artie, we should just draw lots. Less hassle.” The brunette said.
The blond looked at you. “Will you decide love?”
You snorted at them. “Sorry Artie, Al, but you guys can decide by yourselves. Just stay away from me and I’ll leave you alone as well.” You got up, your mug of tea now empty. Waving at your uncle, you stalked to your room.
The six boys in the room shared a blank look. Normally girls would be screaming and chasing them but you gave them the cold shoulder. This was quite odd.
Allistor tapped Dylan’s shoulder. “I’m rooming with you.” The brunette sighed and shrugged. “Fine by me.” The twins nodded at each other. “I’m not leaving you Flynn.”
“And I’m not going to leave you Iain!”
Arthur’s eyes watered as Peter smiled at him. “Looks like we’re together Artie~”
You lay on your bed, leaning your feet against the wall. Great. Just great. Of all the people your uncle had to bring home it had to be the Kirklands!
What a nightmare!
