You closed your eyes, your tiredness taking you over. You hadn’t gotten a proper night’s sleep for a straight week now and you could seriously say it was taking a toll on your body. Dozing on your bed was the only rest you got recently.
Though you had sleepwalked when you were younger, for some reason you were getting more tired from your nightly activities. Sighing, you rolled on your back as you thought of a solution.
Maybe ask if someone wanted to sleep with you? Then maybe they’d be able to stop you from conducting night-time walks which left you with aching feet and a splitting headache?
But who could you ask for something like that? As you slowly opened your eyes again, you saw an ornament on your window-sill. A little wooden horse, painted red seemed to beckon you closer and you gently picked it up.
The Dala horse Berwald got me? You thought to yourself then grinned, having found an answer to your problem. Berwald!
“So you just want me to sleep with you?” The Swede asked, cocking his head slightly. You nodded, unfazed by the look on his face. “If that’s alright! I mean, I’m not sure if it’ll help, but it’s better than doing nothing.” You explained, rubbing your neck.
The tall blond always scared people away but for some reason his glare had the opposite effect on you, you were drawn to him. Naturally you became one of his few friends and depended on him quite a lot.
“So is that okay?” You asked tentatively, smiling at him when he nodded. “Thanks Ber!”
“Well then, I say we go back to your house. If we want you to stop sleepwalking, it’d be best for you to be in a familiar environment right?” You nodded again, waiting for him to get what he needed and to come home with you.
After the ride home, which took some time, night had already fallen so the two of you decided to go to bed, having eating a nice meal of meatballs.
You lay in your bed, already changed into your pyjamas and waited for him to emerge out of the bathroom. Giggling softly to yourself, you smiled as you thought how long he was taking.
The reason for this was that he was giving himself some pep-talk. “Don’t worry, nothing’s expected to happen, so just relax.” He muttered, glaring at his mirror image. He straightened up with a sigh, stepping out and into your room clad only in some dark blue slacks.
You blushed when you saw his lean build, looking away in embarrassment. How am I supposed to sleep with him looking like that!?
Whilst he flicked off the main light, he took off his glasses, lying them on the bedside table. Then he lifted the sheets up temporarily sending a gust of cold air past your warmed-up body. You shivered slightly, shifting closer to him as he lay down.
“That better?” He mumbled, pulling you closer so you were being hugged by him. “Yeah.” You whispered back, feeling your cheeks heat up as they rubbed against his bare chest. The steady beat of his heart made you feel drowsy and pretty soon you were snoring gently, looking content being held by Berwald.
He kissed your forehead gently, blinking when you started muttering in your sleep. “N-no, don’t you know-?” His lips quirked up and he leaned closer to you, resting his forehead on yours. “Tell me.” He murmured quietly, urging you to continue.
“A-apples gr-grow better on peeear trees.” You slurred, your brows knitting together at whatever or whoever you were talking to in your dream. He chuckled, reaching behind him for his glasses.
She’s adorable, he thought to himself now he could see your sleeping face properly. When you started squirming in his arms, he tightened his grip, not letting go of you. Minutes later, you fell into a deeper sleep, not bothering to untangle your legs from Berwald’s.
He found himself drifting off as well as you muttered something else in your sleep, the sensation of your warm being in his arms making him smile.
And that was how you found him that morning, hair dishevelled, glasses askew and the corners of his mouth up and you feeling miraculously awake and ready for the coming day.
