Nikolai was chewing on his thumbnail fretfully, his gaze directed at the reason for his distress. Lying on the bed in front of which he was sitting, was you. Your face was flushed and your breaths came in short wheezes as you did your best to find a way to sleep. Breathing through your nose was out of the question however as it was clogged up severely.
The conundrum Nikolai was beating himself up over was this; should he take you to the doctor or not?
It should have been a simple enough question for anyone other than the Belarusian and after half an hour of thinking it over he still hadn’t gotten an answer.
If I do take her there, you’ll get better sooner... Nikolai listed, frowning when you gasped and went into a particularly bad coughing fit. He sat you up against his chest, letting you cough it out until you lay trembling in his arms.
But if I do, the doctor will see you like this.
Tightening his arms around you, he buried his face into your neck.
And I don’t want anyone else to see you when you’re this adorable.
Your hot body and flushed expression were enough to drive him crazy and he certainly wasn’t allowing anyone else see you in the adorable state you were in. It sounded weird, but as sick as you were, he simply couldn’t bring himself to take you to the doctor’s.
And the doctor might see your chest.
That was what was stopping Nikolai from going there as well. He also didn’t want to go as you’d practically begged him to not take you there. You hated doctor’s waiting rooms the most; it was like you could almost feel the germs in the air and every breath you took would only make you more ill than you originally were.
You snuggled up to him, closing your tired eyes in bliss as his heartbeat started to rock you to sleep. Seeing you fall asleep, he rubbed circles on your back, hoping to soothe the pain that shot through your body each time you started to cough.
He was merely repeating what his brother and sister did when he used to get sick and he hoped he was doing it properly. She’s just too cute for words. He thought, holding himself back. If he wasn’t careful he was going to pounce you.
“N-Nik?” He snapped out of his daydream instantly, the coarse sound of your voice bringing him back. “I’m right here.” He murmured back, using his hand to wipe your forehead of your sweaty hair. You gripped the hem of his sleeve, cuddling up to him.
“I know you are.” You said with a weak chuckle. No matter how cute you were, Nikolai still felt pained knowing you weren’t feeling good. “Is there anything I can do?” He asked, his sapphire eyes pleading for something he could do to make you feel even just the slightest bit better.
“Just.... stay with me, please?” He blushed at your sweet demand and ruffled your hair gently. “I was going to do that regardless.”
Tilting your head to the side, you laughed freely though another coughing fit cut you short. “I’ll be fine.” You muttered, waving him away. A short sigh escaped his lips and he rolled onto his stomach, cushioning you back in bed.
“I’ll be right here, so get some rest, ‘kay?” Nodding already drowsily, you let your eyelids droop closed, nuzzling into the hand you were still holding onto.
Nikolai stroked your face gently, leaning down to kiss your lips briefly. He knew he’d never get enough of that sleeping face of yours.
