Emil sighed, running a hand through his silvery hair. Why on earth did Mathias insist on dragging him here! And just when he’d thought he’d escaped from it Tino and Berwald showed up forcing him to go.
Swilling the liquid in his cup he sulked in the corner of the room filled to the brim with loud babbling people, music thumping in the background.
The only good thing about this place is that you’re here.....he thought, glancing over in your direction. He’d had the most secret of crushes on you for an awfully long time , which meant of course that you didn’t know. His heart always pounded when he looked at you, when you spoke in that sweet voice of yours....
He flushed red just thinking about you and he covered his face with his hands, trying to get the fast pace of his heart to slow down.
Shoving himself from the table, he decided to leave now that Mathias was hammered enough to not stand straight let alone put up a fight.
Originally he tried to speed walk through the crowd in a straight line to get to where the coats had been dumped, but a combination of the drunkness of the crowd and his desire to be close to you made his trajectory curve, leading him past you as you were standing close to the coat heap anyway.
Okay, I’ll just quickly say goodbye is all, Emil reassured himself. He brushed past your back and you turned, smiling warmly when you saw him. “Hey Em-“
His cheeks burning, he sprinted towards the coats leaving you standing there dumbfounded. “Okay then....” you rubbed your neck with the hand that you’d raised in greeting as Alfred guffawed. “So, you leaving in the morning then?”
You stretched, already feeling apprehensive for the long flight. “Jup! Man, it’s gonna take a long time.....”
As you and Alfred were conversing, Emil froze. It wasn’t his fault he heard you, he definitely wasn’t eavesdropping on you or anything of the sort! “You’re....leaving?” He asked, his voice trembling.
The two of you turned to see Emil clutching his scarf. “You’re going?” He asked again, his face distorted into an expression of pain. Alfred stared at him blankly then burst into laughing, holding onto you to not fall to the floor.
“Dude, this is like her farewell party! You didn’t know?!” Emil looked at him in scorn and glared at the hand he had on your shoulder. You smiled sadly at him, blinking in surprise when he grabbed your hand and pulled you away.
Away from the voices that echoed in his skull, away from the music that was giving him a whopping headache.... All he wanted was silence and knowledge of where you were headed and if there was anything in his power to keep you from leaving.
You winced as you were pulled outside, into the cool air. Shivering, you did all you could to keep up with Emil as he ran. When you finally skidded to a halt, you rubbed your bare arms for warmth. “E-Emil....what’s up?”
He was doubled over, panting as he tried to catch his breath. “A-are you really....going?” He didn’t look at you, his trembling hands covering his eyes. “I’m afraid so.” You mumbled, jumping when he sprang to his feet.
“No! I don’t want you to go!”
I haven’t told her yet! He thought, then blushed at his outburst and hid his face in his scarf. You chuckled, your breath rising in steam. “I don’t want to either. But I’m afraid I haven’t really got a choice in the matter.”
You reached up to caress his cheek, making his violet eyes gaze into yours. Seeing you shiver, his brows knitted together and he unzipped his coat. Wrapping it around you, he smiled zipping it up for you. “Thanks....” you murmured, revelling as the warmth soaked onto your skin.
“Stay here. With me.” He whispered, stroking his thumb over your jaw. “Please....I’ll make it work out, I swear.” He looked down again, his face getting more and more covered by his scarf. “Not-t t-that that means I-I-“
“It’s okay Emil.” You held his hands, stuffing into the pockets of his own coat and interlacing your fingers. In doing so, he came closer to you, leaning his forehead onto yours.
“I’d like for nothing more than to stay with you, but it won’t take that long. I mean I’ll only be gone for a few weeks.”
He froze. “A few....weeks?” You nodded, resting your head on his chest when you squeezed his hands. “I-I thought you’d be gone forever!” Laughing, he hugged you tightly, spinning you in a circle. “Then that means I can do this again!”
He grinned, brushing his cold lips against yours. You smiled against his lips, pulling back to see his face red again. But then again you own was probably a mirror image.
“Don’t worry.” You murmured, pressing your lips against his once more, “you’ll definitely be seeing me again.”
